Kishtwar Campus organized Seminar on International Women’s Day | KNO

KISHTWAR , Mar 8 (KNO) : Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu celebrated International Women’s Day in the Conference Room of the Campus by organizinga Seminar on “Role of Women in the Society”.

The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Haq Nawaz Sheikh, Director Kishtwar Campus, through Video Conferencing. In his video message Prof. Haq Nawaz Sheikh, Director Kishtwar Campusconveyed the audience the importance of Women in the society as a whole and said no country can develop and sustain if women are not respected, empowered and librated. Speaking on the occasion, Incharge Head of the Department of Computer Science & IT, Nidhi Sambyal emphasized about daily life trials and challenges encountered by women.

She focused on how every woman should inspire and provide support to one another and be each other’s strengths. She urged the audience to acknowledge the contribution and presence of the ladies in their lives, whether she is a mother, wife, daughter, sister or a friend. Sambyal also stressed upon the women to be aware about their legal and social rights. Sumita Gupta, Faculty Member Department of Computer Science & IT spoke on the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day “ Press for Change” and encouraged the young girls and women to stand up for their rights and have the courage to express their opinion.

Shreya Gupta, Faculty Member Department of Computer Science & IT spoke about her personal journey, challenges and obstacles she had faced as a woman. She also laid emphasis on the importance and nurturance of self-belief amongst the women. Anzar Ali Zargar, Incharge Head Department of Kashmiri mentioned that women should remove reluctance in their lives to prosper. Gender should never act as an obstacle in the journey of the life of a woman.

Other faculty members of the campus including Anil, Shabbir, Aamira and Manzoor also spoke on the occasion. The seminar was attended by the students of all the three departments of the campus and non-teaching staff. Shivani Padha, faculty member Department of Computer Science & IT conducted proceedings of the seminar. The seminar concluded with vote of thanks by NidhiSambyal, Incharge Head Department of Computer Science & IT.(KNO)
